Well it's a strange morning. Firstly, I'm evidently north of the border because, as far as I recall, snow was only forecast in Scotland.

And yet here I am, in the heart of Yorkshire, contemplating stout footwear and layering. Or not venturing out until it melts and mainlining hearty soups, warming brews and perhaps, in a nod to my newly Caledonian surroundings, a wee dram.

A drop of Scotch is guaranteed to warm the cockles and if you're of a kilt-wearing bent your subzero cockles will definitely thank you for it.
