Long waits for talking therapies

More than one in 20 referrals for anxiety and depression talking therapies in Leeds waited over 18 weeks for treatment in April, new figures show.
The statistics come as waiting times between referral and treatment varied significantly across England.
NHS talking therapies help treat people with depression or anxiety. They are approved by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, and do not need a diagnosis.
New NHS England figures show 2,175 referrals for talking therapies were received in the former NHS Leeds CCG area in April - down from 2,345 a year earlier.
