He's arguably the most famous writer who ever lived, having penned such classics as King Lear, Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet and Macbeth.
It's unlikely, if you studied GCSE English literature, that you managed to avoid any of William Shakespeare's plays, be they tragedies, historical dramas or his frankly desperately unfunny comedies.
It is also true that if you venture within a generous radius of Stratford-on-Avon, you can't avoid mention of him either.
Driving into town - on the very unrelated matter of judging at a horse show - the Bard is EVERYWHERE.
