Free yoga classes this summer in Abbey grounds

A yoga instructor from Leeds is running free yoga classes on the Kirkstall Abbey grounds this summer with the aim of embracing nature in an accessible way.

Anna Rose, who has been practicing yoga for more than a decade, will host yoga classes in June, July and August on the grass between the Kirkstall Abbey and the River Aire. The classes started on Sunday and will also take place on July 6 and August 10 from 1pm.

Anna became inspired to teach yoga after finding the practice brought benefits to both her physical and mental health.

She said: "I got into yoga just as a way to stretch after exercise. I started doing it a bit more and for a bit longer. It was then that I noticed not just the physical effects that it had but the mental-health effects. I found that I was more calmer.
