Constant pain to confidence: read Amy's inspiring story

When Amy joined Slimming World in early June, her motivation wasn't vanity: it was survival.

Living with fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis in her spine, her body had become a source of relentless pain.

Walking just a few metres left her breathless and everyday movement was a struggle. "I was so overweight, it was difficult to walk just a few metres," she recalled. "I was out of breath and in constant severe pain."

The catalyst for change arrived unexpectedly during a short trip with friends. Surrounded by people who moved with ease, she later looked at the photos of the day and her heart sank.

"I looked back on the photos and hated the sight of myself. I was disgusted at myself," she said.

Her autistic son's blunt questions only confirmed what she already knew deep down. "Alongside my brutally honest autistic son regularly asking why I was so fat, I knew I had to start looking after myself."

That moment of painful self-recognition became the spark Amy needed. She turned to Slimming World and got started with her own life-changing journey.

In just a few months, Amy has lost more than two stones. For many people, that would be an amazing achievement in itself, but for Amy it is the start of a total transformation in her health.
