Big Brother is still watching, and this time it's with an evil eye
October 15, 2025
|Yorkshire Evening Post
Twenty-five years ago, Big Brother came onto our screens and revolutionised reality TV.
-

The premise was simple: Stick 10 strangers in a house with 24 hour surveillance and see what happens.
The result captivated millions.
Now, the show has evolved over the years - it's changed channels, changed presenters and gained a celebrity spin-off.
But for over two decades, as Big Brother has always been watching, we've always been watching too.
The theme of this year's Big Brother house is the 'evil eye' which is fitting for a series that is airing across the Hallowe'en season.
Alongside a spooky diary room revamp, the twist is that housemates can be cursed by the evil eye, a curse that manifests through a range of misfortunes from an uncomfortable pillow to immediate eviction. How devious!
The spooky theme also introduces eyes as a form of currency in the Big Brother house.
Earned based on challenge performance, eyes can be used on treats or possible advantages later in the game.
This has introduced an instant competitiveness and introduced drama that we usually wouldn't see until far further into the series.
