Antique pistol triggers five-year prison sentence

A man who was caught with a century-old antique pistol at his home has been handed a five-year mandatory jail sentence because of a previous conviction.

Ryan Semeniuk was jailed previously for possessing a gun which was discovered buried in a garden.

But, shortly after 8am on November 8, armed-response officers targeted a home on Pleasant Terrace in Holbeck carrying a search warrant, Leeds Crown Court heard.

Semeniuk was not home but, during a search of the property, the search officers found a Colt Thunderer double-action revolver from the 1800s under his bed.
