West ice-cream going down a treat in Japan

A WESTCOUNTRY ice-cream maker is celebrating a sweet new chapter in its global journey after touching down in Japan.

Langage Farm's dairy products have landed in downtown Tokyo with the opening of The British Shop, offering locals and tourists alike a taste of “true Devon delight”.

The ice-cream parlour is the latest venture by Mark Spencer, entrepreneur and founder of the highly successful Hobgoblin branded pubs in Japan. Known for bringing a taste of British culture to Japan's food and drink scene, Mark is now serving Langage's luxuriously creamy desserts to a new audience.

Japan's population of 124 million has a strong appetite for international food and drink and the country's status as the world's fourth largest economy in 2023 highlights the strength of its consumer market and the commercial opportunities for premium British products.
