Spend a night in towering historic hilltop landmark

An iconic building with a fascinating history, royal connections and spectacular views is embarking on a new era.

Lawrence Castle, known to many people as Haldon Belvedere, has stood for more than 300 years on one of the highest spots in Devon, commanding majestic views over Exeter and for many miles beyond.

The white turrets of the building itself can be seen from the city standing proudly like a sentinel amid the trees of the forest.

Although it is visible to tens of thousands of people every day it is often dubbed the city’s ‘best kept secret.’ All that could be about to change, however.

The new owner, Devon Historic Buildings Trust, wants to open it up to the public once again by offering a holiday penthouse apartment.
