WHERE previous Labour slogans have included “The New Hope for Britain” (1983), “Britain Will Win With Labour” (1987), “It’s Time to Get Britain Working Again” (1992), “Britain Deserves Better” (1997), “Ambitions for Britain” (2001), “Forward. Not Back” (2005) and “A Future Fair for All” (2010, which, thanks to the weird word order, sounds like a plan to repeat 1951's Festival of Britain) the words emblazoned on the party’s banner today - had it not consciously repudiated such hallowed emblems of proletarian solidarity as banners, of course - could very well be: “Throw It At the Wall and See If It Sticks”.
