Performer injured in daredevil circus act

A CIRCUS performer was injured at a Devon show during a motorcycle act called the Globe of Death.
The performance by Circus Extreme involves a number of motorbikes being ridden around a spherical metal cage at speed.
The crash happened shortly before 5pm on Thursday and emergency services were called to Paignton Green where Extreme Circus has its big top, close to the seafront.
Devon Air Ambulance landed on Paignton Green and a performer was taken to hospital.
DevonLive reports that two stunt riders collided inside the Globe of Death and then the injuries occurred when a motorbike fell on top of one of the performers.
Some spectators were visibly upset and the big top was evacuated.
