I'M still tingling. What a fantastic evening! What a treat! In times when life is grey and full of woe it was wonderful to go out and get lost in a production and still find your feet tapping an hour after you're home.

So what's all the excitement about? Well its Tina - The Tina Musical and it’s on at Plymouth’s Theatre Royal until next Saturday, July 12th.
Tina Turner really earned her title of ‘The Queen of Rock. I’m sure everyone reading this column will have heard of her or danced to her music. Think What's Love Got To Do With it or Proud Mary - the list goes on and on and I’m not sure she ever made a bad song. Certainly What's Love Got to Do with it was number one in the charts both here and in America.
To say the singer had a roller coaster of a life is an understatement. Born in Tennessee, Anna Mae Bullock in 1939, was the daughter of an abusive preacher man and an indifferent mother. Her parents’ marriage broke up and she went to live with relatives.
Anna Mae loved singing. One night she was out with her sister. She was just 17 at the time, and listened to a band playing. The lead was a chap called Ike Turner. She impressed him with her raunchy, raucous and powerful voice. Turner could see that Anna Mae could change his fortune and persuaded her to marry him. She changed her name to Tina Turner and the duo became well known.
