THE sister of a young mother killed in a house fire with her two baby children has asked for people with information about their murders to “come forward, do the right thing”.

Family and friends release balloons in Gurnos, Merthyr Tydfil, to mark the 30th anniversary of the murders of Diane Jones, 21, and her children

The community came out to release balloons to mark 30 years since the young family’s deaths.

Diane Jones, 21, died alongside her daughters Shauna, two, and 13-month-old Sarah-Jane, at their home on the Gurnos estate on October 11, 1995, after petrol was pumped into the house and a lit match was thrown through the letterbox. No-one has been brought to justice for their deaths.

On Saturday, exactly 30 years after their deaths, Diane's sisters Mary and Denise joined with family members and the community to mark the occasion by releasing balloons.

More than 100 people attended to pay their respects. ‘Ihe family of Diane Jones were visibly emotional, hugging as Michael Jackson's You Are Not Alone played from a car speaker.
