Springboks locked in talks over Welsh clash

SOUTH Africa's four United Rugby Championship sides are reportedly locked in talks with the country’s rugby governing body over the release of Springboks players for their autumn international clash with Wales at the end of next month.

Rassie Erasmus’ side take on Steve Tandy’s men in Cardiff on November 29, with the fixture falling outside of World Rugby’s official Test window.

As a result, the four South African URC teams - the Bulls, Lions, Sharks and Stormers - will be back in action that same weekend with many of their top players away on international duty.

The four franchises are now requesting compensation from SA Rugby, with South African publication Rapport reporting that the clubs have asked for around £22,000 per player involved in the match against Wales.
