Spielberg's seal of approval for Jurassic 'Jaws'

WELSH filmmaker Gareth Edwards has spoken about the nod to a Steven Spielberg classic he included in the new Jurassic World film.
The 49-year-old admitted the bar was “really high” for the new adaptation.
The director of the seventh instalment in the dinosaur saga, which carries on 32 years after Spielberg’s iconic Jurassic Park adaptation of Michael Crichton’s novel, acknowledged the latest film mirrors a moment from the book where a predator menaces individuals on a raft, reminiscent of Spielberg’s famed Jaws.
Gareth, whose parents come from Usk and Pontypool, said he doesn’t “feel guilty” about including a Jaws homage in Jurassic World Rebirth since the idea received the green light from Steven Spielberg himself.
Speaking with Empire magazine, Edwards, who helmed Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, explained: “You can’t put a fin in the water and have it be a threat to people on a boat without thinking of a particular film [Jaws].
“And I would feel really guilty about this, except for the fact that the screenplay was given to me by Steven Spielberg.”
