Red cards, racism row and manager's apologies in early Euro outings

RED cards, a racism row and a manager apologising for being sent off - there was plenty to digest from the three defeats suffered by the pride of the JD Cymru Premier in the opening qualifying rounds of Europe this season.

The six games didn’t produce a win for The New Saints in the Champions League, or Penybont and Haverfordwest County in the Conference League, but they were packed full of incidents.

Craig Harrison's Welsh champions TNS will get a second chance this week when they meet the Luxembourg champions FC Differdange 03 in the second qualifying round of the Conference League.

They lost 2-1 after extra time in their clash with North Macedonian club KF Shkendija to go out of the Champions League 2-1 over the two legs.

While that was disappointing after a goalless draw at Park Hall in the first leg, what happened after the game left a sour taste when Aramide Oteh suffered a racist slur.
