Lewis reveals details of emotional Wainwright speech to Dragons

DRAGONS prop Dillon Lewis says departing teammate Aaron Wainwright will be "a massive loss" as he revealed how the Leicester Tigers-bound star broke the news he was leaving to the rest of the squad.

It was confirmed on Thursday that Wainwright (pictured) had become the latest star to seal a move away from Welsh rugby, leaving Rodney Parade after nine years to join Geoff Parling's side ahead of the 2026/27 season.
In a message to supporters, the 62-cap international said the region "means a huge amount" to him, but added that it was "the right time in [his] career for a fresh challenge".
Appearing on Scrum V: The Warm-Up, fellow Wales international Lewis admitted there were "emotional" scenes as Wainwright addressed the squad to announce his decision, with his teammates "gutted" to see him go.
"He's going to be a massive loss," he said.
