SCOTTIE Scheffler stormed to Open glory last night with a four-shot victory at Royal Portrush.

It was the fourth major title for the world No. 1, who now just needs to win the US Open to complete a career grand slam.

In truth, the outcome at Royal Portrush wads barely in doubt all day. Scheffler took a four-shot advantage into the final 18 holes and apart from a double bogey on the back nine he remained in command throughout the afternoon.

He finished on 17-under-par, four shots clear of Harris English in second.

Chris Gotterup, who won the Scottish Open just a week ago, completed a clean sweep for Americans at the top of the leaderboard by finishing third.

Matthew Fitzpatrick finished in a tie for fourth with Haotong Li and Wyndham Clark after a closing 69.
