'Fraudulent, aggressive' builder jailed
August 25, 2025
|Western Mail
A ROGUE trader who targeted vulnerable people in Wales has been jailed.
Paul Anthony Evans, 51, targeted vulnerable victims, cold-called, touted for work and charged excessive fees for poor-quality workmanship.
Between November 2021 and March 2024, Evans, trading as P Evans Home Improvement alongside his son and co-defendant, engaged in fraudulent business practices and aggressive sales tactics.
Despite previously providing an undertaking to Trading Standards officers to stop such practices and repay an earlier victim, Evans failed to comply with the repayment plan and continued operating in the same manner, the court heard.
Evans was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment - a minimum of six months in custody, with the remainder served on licence - following an investigation led by Anglesey Trading Standards.
Evans, of Llain Feurig, Gwalchmai, Anglesey, was sentenced at Caernarfon Crown Court.
