KEIR Starmer's Labour Party popularity in Wales continues to tumble, a new poll suggests.

- RUTH MOSALSKI Political editor ruth.mosalski@walesonline.co.uk

Pollsters asked voters who they would back at a Westminster election, and the answer is further bad news for Labour.

Most voters said they would back Reform UK (30%).

In second place was Plaid Cymru (19%) and Labour came in third with 15%, just 1% ahead of the Green Party (14%) and 2% ahead of the Conservatives.

The full results were:

Reform UK 30%

Plaid Cymru 19%

Labour 15%

Greens 14%

Conservatives 13%

Lib Dem 8%

Others 2%

The poll, carried out by YouGov for Cardiff University, suggests centre-left support is becoming increasingly fragmented, with left-wing voters splitting between Plaid Cymru, Labour, Green Party and the Lib Dems.

In the 2024 general election, Labour MPs made up 27 of the 32 available, and the party had 37% of the total vote. This polling, of 1,954 people shows just 15% would vote for them at the next general election.

This polling does not use the MRP weighting used in the regular Welsh polling by YouGov/ITV Cymru Wales and those behind the polling have not given seat projections either about which party would win which seat, given there is no election date confirmed.
