A BARBER who became involved in a “melee” outside his shop pushed a man while holding scissors and caused a stab wound to his chest, which punctured his lung.
The victim spent days in hospital and underwent operations to save his life after blood and air entered his chest cavity.
Elijah Taylor, 30, caused life-threatening injuries to Jayden O'Keefe outside a barber's shop in City Road, Cardiff, on July 22, 2022, after the victim suffered a stab wound to the chest.
Mr O'Keefe had become involved in an incident in the street while in an intoxicated state and smashed a bottle on the floor.
A sentencing hearing at Cardiff Crown Court heard the victim picked up a chair and acted aggressively, which caused the defendant and his coworkers to leave the shop.
Prosecutor Paul Hewitt said Taylor admitted pushing Mr O’Keefe to the chest while in possession of a pair of scissors, which he said unintentionally pierced the victim's chest and caused the wound.
