Pink Self Storage Swansea customers say they were met with holes cut through their units in Port Tennant while valuable items were either taken or “strewn” across the ground.

Three customers told us their missing items were worth thousands of pounds each in value amounting to a combined total of more than £13,000.

‘They claim they were not aware the incident had occurred until days later by which point more of their items became damaged by rainwater.

Video footage and photographs from the scene show holes at the back of a number of units which appear to back onto a field. A metal fence separating the field and the units appears to be damaged. Beyond the fence more valuable items can be seen strewn across the field.

According to Pink Storage a total of 10 containers were broken into with more damaged.

A spokesman for the company said CCTV was not running at the time as it was seized by police in November following a separate incident. He added that “a number of storage operators” in Swansea and South Wales had been targeted.

South Wales Police said it was investigating the break-in at the Swansea site but did not address claims of other locations being targeted.

Customer Richard Thomas said he was made aware of the incident on Monday, February 2, after he saw a Facebook post shared by another affected user.

Richard, from Maesteg, said he and his wife Bethan were “absolutely devastated” when they saw the state of their unit on February 2 - a week after the company was made aware of the incident.

‘The 47-year-old said: “We came across a Facebook post with an appeal saying units had been broken into. Our storage container had been hit on January 26 and we wouldn't have known that our storage unit was hit if it wasn’t for Facebook.”
