BRIAN Barry-Murphy has denied any suggestion Cardiff City's hierarchy have not backed him in the transfer window and urged patience amid the ongoing lack of incomings.

Cardiff have signed only one player, Nathan Trott, this summer, with 14 players having already left and Jesper Daland in talks with other clubs ahead of a likely departure, too.

The mass exodus, coupled with the lack of signings, has led to some speculation from supporters that this summer is being used as a major cost-cutting exercise by owner Vincent Tan.

However, when asked whether it was right to say that he had not been backed by the board, the Bluebirds head coach steadfastly answered: "No."

He added: "I think patience is obviously important and I'm very particular on what we want to bring into the club.

"There's always going to be slight, I suppose, nuance around certain players that we want to bring in may become available, or may not become available based on how the window progresses.

"And just being ready for that.

"But the support from the board has been constant.
