The win took the Quins up from fourth to second in the table and two points behind Ebbw Vale, albeit having played two more games.

The Quins hit the front 12 minutes in at the Talbot Athletic Ground through a try from ex-Wales wing Steff Evans.

They led 21-7 at the break with wing Thomas Williams and loosehead prop Rhys Fawcett also scoring in the first half.

Elis Price converted all three tries and also added the extras to hooker Isaac Young's try five minutes into the second half to extend the visitors’ lead to 28-7.

Second-half tries for Aberavon from replacement Tomi Booth - which he also converted - and replacement scrumhalf Caelan Carson-Jones denied Quins maximum points.

Frankie Jones scored from the wing for the Wizards in the first half, converted by Charlie Thomas.

Defeat for Aberavon ended their bid to make it three wins in a row.

Quins director of rugby Steff Thomas said: “Aberavon is always a very tough place to go so we're delighted.

“We managed to get the edge up front early doors and gave ourselves a head start on the scoreboard and managed to keep that.

“It was a great win and a nice way to finish off this block of fixtures.

“Going away from home, the win was the priority and we managed to do that with a bonus point.

“It would have been nice to have got the sixth point but, respect to Aberavon, that was always going to be a very, very tough ask.
