Forces Community Hub group to mark anniversary with 40-mile trek

GOT Your Six UK CIC (GYSUK), a local not-for-profit organisation, is celebrating the one-year anniversary of its community hub in Wincanton with a 40-mile hike from Weymouth to Wincanton.
-
A core team of eight people from GYSUK will begin the walk at The Veterans Hub Weymouth and Portland CIC on Friday, 27th June.
The route spans over 40 miles and concludes at the GYSUK Community Hub in Wincanton on Sunday, 29th June, with two nights of camping along the way.
The walk has been divided into manageable sections to enable as many people as possible to take part. Some members of the community will complete a single day, while others will walk shorter distances suited to their individual abilities.
Participants using wheelchairs and mobility scooters are welcome to join at both the start and finish points of the walk. In addition, there is a support team to assist with setting up camps, preparing meals, and transporting walkers to and from checkpoints as required. This allows those not physically able to partake in the walk an opportunity to participate in another way.
Got Your Six UK was founded by Tara Coyles-Gould - a military spouse and therapist - in 2022. It began as a therapy service based at The Veterans Hub Weymouth and Portland CIC and expanded to a full-time project with the opening of its Wincanton Community Hub in 2024.
