Campaign group seeks to defend villages against ‘poor planning’
November 20, 2025
|Western Gazette
HOUSING development in rural areas across Somerset has seen some heated debates and now a group called SCRAPP (Somerset Communities Raging Against Poor Planning) has formed to fight large developments in small villages.
It started in the village of Keinton Mandeville where locals are calling for a judicial review after Somerset Council approved plans to build houses in fields at the bottom of Queen Street.
There are plans to build a further 100 homes in the village.
Fighting these developments is a lengthy process and campaigners have to raise around £70,000 to challenge the planners' decision.
