Kirby leaves Robins after finishing sixth

STEVE Kirby has left his role as Bristol City Women’s head coach following a disappointing end to the season, writes Daniel Carter.

The Robins’ campaign ended ten days ago when they slipped to a 2-0 defeat at Durham to finish in sixth position in the Women’s Championship, 13 points adrift of London City Lionesses, who were promoted to the top flight.

Kirby was appointed as Lauren Smith's permanent replacement in September of last year, putting pen to paper on a two-year deal at Ashton Gate, having spent the previous two seasons as part of the coaching staff at Women’s Super League side Leicester City.
