Hotel with a homely feeling

THE Artist Residence is one of those spots in Bristol that kept popping up but I hadn't had a chance to visit yet.

Hotel with a homely feeling

The bathroom in the room

An old boot factory turned into a boutique hotel in St Paul’s, the hotel has had high praise since it opened in 2021, including being highlighted in the Muddy Stilettos awards earlier this year.

A Georgian townhouse, it describes itself as an “eccentric home from home in the heart of the city”. With 23 rooms varying in size and style, the hotel also includes a cafe, bar and restaurant which can be used by the public as well as guests.

The 4* star hotel is certainly in an excellent central location, situated in Portland Square. Staying midweek, parking turned out to be less of an issue than I expected; we were able to park along some single-yellow lines around the corner, which meant we only had to pay for an hour’s parking in the morning before we left. If we had struggled to find a spot on the street, Cabot Circus is just a few minutes away.

Compared to other hotels, the Artist Residence certainly has a homely feeling and I loved the bohemian style throughout. From the small details to the bigger picture, it is obvious a lot of thought has gone into creating the space.
