'Heartbreak' as complaint puts legion club at risk
October 21, 2025
|Western Daily Press
VOLUNTEERS who run Corfe Mullen Royal British Legion say they are feeling "heartbroken" because of a neighbour complaint which has led to a review of its licence.
The single complaint is asking Dorset Council's licensing team to investigate whether the club, in Blandford Road, is complying with conditions of its licence under the licensing objectives of crime and disorder, public safety and the prevention of public nuisance.
At worst the outcome could mean the loss of the licence, or changes to it - although councillors also have the option of leaving it as it is.
A statement from the club committee said: "This has been an extremely difficult period for our club. Like many hospitality venues, we have faced significant financial pressures over the past few years, but the recent licensing review has added an additional and unexpected burden.
