THE King has spoken of his pride in the charity he founded 50 years ago which aims to improve the lives of disadvantaged young people in the UK.

- CATHERINE WYLIE

The King's Trust, then known as The Prince's Trust, was set up by Charles in 1976 to help disadvantaged young people overcome challenging circumstances, get into employment or launch their own businesses.

It has since become one of the UK’s leading youth organisations and has helped more than 1.3 million young people to date with celebrity ambassadors including former England football manager Sir Gareth Southgate and television presenters Ant and Dec.

The actor Idris Elba (pictured, right) has previously said the Trust gave him an opportunity that changed his life.
