Aluko 'looks forward' to proving Barton libel case
April 10, 2025
|Western Daily Press
FORMER England footballer Eniola Aluko has said she is looking forward to proving her libel case against Joey Barton in court after a High Court ruling.
-
Ms Aluko, who now works as a pundit, is suing Mr Barton for libel over two posts he made in January last year on social media site X.
In one post, the former Bristol Rovers boss called Ms Aluko a "race card player", which she denies.
At a hearing in December, Mr Justice Lavender was asked to rule on several preliminary issues in the case, including the "natural and ordinary meaning" of the posts and whether they were innuendos made about Ms Aluko being dishonest and hypocritical.
