Brewers cook up a storm

GAME week nine of the South West & Wales Baseball League took place on Sunday, with only the Taunton Pistols taking to the diamond at Taunton Green.

They hosted the Newton Abbot Brewers in a double-header, with the Pistols being swept 26-4 and 18-1.

At the start of the weekend, the Pistols sat just above the Brewers in the Wessex Division, holding a 5-5 win-loss record with the Brewers 4-6. The Brewers came prepared to swing the bat, pouncing early on young Taunton pitcher Harry Cave in game one.

Opposite number Haydn Thomas did most of the damage with four hits and eight runs batted in (RBI). The home side struggled to get to grips on the offensive side, only managing five hits to combine for four runs.
