MAN FRACTURED VICTIM'S SKULL IN BRUTAL ATTACK

A MAN armed himself with a baseball bat and fractured his victim's skull in a brutal attack in front of his mother.

It was described as a “revenge attack” after he claimed he found messages from the victim on his partner’s phone.

Thomas Morgan, 35, attended the home of Christopher Holly in Tredegar at 7.30am on July 21 and banged on the door. The victim was still in bed but his mother answered the door and described the defendant as “rude and abrasive”.

A sentencing hearing at Newport Crown Court heard the defendant said he was “not moving” until Mr Holly came to the door and was “intimidating and confrontational”.

After his mother woke him up the victim came to the door and as he put his foot on the doorstep Morgan swung a wooden baseball bat at him and connected with the right side of his face.
