Vietnam an intriguing target for supply chain shifts

Powerful investors are turning to Vietnam as a strategic anchor in Asia’s next growth cycle to diversify their supply chains.

A delegation of South Korean conglomerates, including Samsung, Hyundai, LG Group, and SK Group, are likely to visit Vietnam this week to seek business opportunities, according to the Korea Times.

The Federation of Korean Industries and the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry are said to have formed business delegations to visit India and Vietnam. Each delegation is expected to include around 200 businesses, participating in forums to connect with local partners.

Vietnam is currently a crucial link in the global production chain of South Korean corporations. According to the Korean Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (KoCham), the escalating tensions in the Middle East have become a direct risk factor for global supply chains.

"Companies are rapidly shifting their supply chain strategies from efficiency-driven models to more risk-diversified structures. Reducing dependence on a single country or logistics route and securing multiple sourcing options has become standard practice," said KoCham chairman Kim Nyoun Ho.
