Priorities aligned in logistics development strategy
June 08, 2026
|Vietnam Investment Review
As global supply chains undergo profound restructuring, logistics cooperation among ASEAN member states is becoming increasingly strategic.
For Vietnam, closer collaboration with regional logistics hubs such as Singapore and Thailand presents a unique opportunity to strengthen connectivity, enhance competitiveness, and position itself as a key link in regional and global supply chains.
ASEAN is emerging as one of the world’s most dynamic economic regions. Amid the ongoing diversification of global supply chains under the ASEAN+1 strategy, the bloc is becoming both a major production base and a growing consumer market. Vietnam’s trade with ASEAN consistently ranks among its most important commercial relationships, creating both urgency and opportunity to optimise cross-border logistics infrastructure, services, and costs.
Vietnam possesses significant advantages, including a strategic geographic location, expanding manufacturing capacity, growing exports, and rapidly developing port, transport, and e-commerce infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Singapore leads in international transshipment, digital logistics, supply chain management, and logistics finance, and Thailand has accumulated extensive experience in multimodal transportation and logistics development linked to industrial production and the Mekong subregion’s economic corridors.
The scope for cooperation is broad. ASEAN countries can strengthen transport connectivity through cross-border economic corridors, particularly along the East-West Economic Corridor, while expanding road transport routes connecting Vietnam, Laos, and northeastern Thailand.
