'Hoses may be banned this winter'

A HOSEPIPE ban will stay in force despite forecasts for heavy rain and could last into the winter.

The restriction was first imposed on millions of Yorkshire Water customers in July, after just 15cm of rain fell in the region from February to June - less than half of that expected in an average year.
