FRANCE boss Fabien Galthie blasted the challenge that could have ended Antoine Dupont's season - as the Six Nations title race was thrown open by a humbling of Ireland.

Les Bleus obliterated the Irish dreams of a Grand Slam in a commanding display at the Aviva Stadium that puts France in pole position for the crown.

Victory over Scotland in Paris next Saturday will clinch it.

But now England can still put themselves in final-day contention by beating Italy at Twickenham today, ahead of their trip to a bruised Wales.

Ireland must beat Italy in Rome next weekend to retain very slim hopes of a record third championship in a row.
