CHRISTMAS WONDERLAND

Head to Lapland for snow, sleigh rides and Santa Claus on a magical festive trip for the whole family

We were on a trip of a lifetime to Lapland, Finland, when we heard shouts of “figgy pudding” and “toffee” on our journey from the airport.

We thought for a moment that festive treats were being dished out, but quickly realised that Figgy Pudding and Toffee were actually the names of the fun and knowledgeable “elves” who were helping to bring our magical Christmas trip alive.

With winter fairytales and quizzes from Santa’s little helpers along the way, there wasn’t a single cry of “Are we there yet?” from the kids on board.

Of course, right at the top of our to-do list was meeting the man of the moment. The sun hadn't quite risen when we set out to find Father Christmas, and the pink sky peeking over the horizon made it feel even more magical.

As we arrived at the Snow Village, we took a sleigh through a treelined forest to find the big man at his cottage, passing cabins twinkling with fairy lights on our way. Our time spent with Santa made for a really special memory, and as we left he said he hoped we'd see the Northern Lights while we were there, which he called his "Super Santa Lights".
