27 Dead, Dozens Missing After Texas Flash Floods

At least 27 people, including nine children, have been confirmed dead after flash floods swept through central Texas, with authorities continuing to search for dozens still missing, especially from a girls' summer camp near the Guadalupe River.
The flooding struck before dawn Friday with little warning, as thunderstorms dumped up to a foot of rain in just hours, causing the river to rise rapidly by 29 feet near Camp Mystic in Kerr County, about 85 miles northwest of San Antonio.
Officials reported that 800 people had been evacuated from the area, and between 23 and 25 girls from the summer camp remain unaccounted for.
