Bank shares gave the local market a welcome boost on July 3 amid subdued trading on Wall Street overnight ahead of the holiday on July 4.
The Straits Times Index (STI) rose 1.4 per cent, or 47.61 points, to 3,415.51, with gainers outnumbering losers 353 to 232 on trade of 1.6 billion securities worth $1.5 billion on the wider market.
