S'pore Red Cross appeals for donations to support relief efforts

The Singapore Red Cross (SRC) has launched an appeal for donations to support relief and recovery operations in Myanmar and Thailand, after an earthquake on March 28 left more than a thousand people dead, injured or missing in both countries.

SRC said the fund-raising appeal would run till May 31.

In a statement on March 30, SRC added that it also offered mental health support to Myanmar or Thai citizens in Singapore whose loved ones were affected by the quake.

A community event, described as a "walk-in safe space", was held at Red Cross House in Penang Lane on March 30.

Ten SRC volunteers offered psychological first aid to the participants, and activities such as mindfulness crocheting and reflections were also conducted during the event.
