Hawker centres • Number of cleaners adjusted to support daily operations

We refer to Mr Justin Kan Rui Liang’s letter “Ensure hawker centres are clean and not just cleared of trays” (Sept 9).

The current cleaning workflow at hawker centres works alongside the mandatory tray return. Typically, one group of cleaners focuses on wiping tables, while another handles the sorting and clearing of trays, crockery, and cutlery at the return stations. The number of cleaners at each hawker centre depends on factors such as size, layout, number of stalls and crowd levels.
