Having Suffered morale-sapping defeats in their respective domestic leagues, both European giants face immense pressure
Both Manchester City and FC Barcelona are going through tough times ahead of their much anticipated clash in the UEFA Champions League.
City conceded a late goal to lose a thriller to arch-rivals Manchester United in the Manchester derby on Sunday when Amad Diallo struck a 90th-minute winner.
On the other hand, lowly Leganes inflicted a 1-0 defeat on Barcelona although the former European champions continue to lead the La Liga standings.
Sunday's defeat has cast a pall of gloom among the Manchester City squad with manager Pep Guardiola declaring himself "not good enough".
The four-time defending Premier League champions have lost eight of their last 11 games in all competitions - winning just once during that harrowing run.
City are currently fifth in the Premier League standings and nine points behind leaders Liverpool, having played a game more.
