The Supreme Court on Friday stayed Rahul Gandhi’s conviction in a criminal defamation case relating to his ‘Modi surname’ remarks, in a major relief for the Congress leader who lost his Lok Sabha seat following his conviction by a Surat court in March this year.The stay of the conviction by the top court paves the way for the restoration of Mr Gandhi’s Lok Sabha membership.
