5000th meeting of Kolkata Rotary Club

The Rotary Club of Calcutta is 107-year-old Service Club based in Kolkata and is the first Rotary Club set up in India way back in 1919.
Referred to as The Old Number One, the club as part of its activities has had people like Mahatma Gandhi, Sir CV Raman, The Dalai Lama, and Presidents V V Giri, Dr K R Narayanan, Giani Zail Singh address its members.
Through all these long years, the Club has had a distinguished record of service to the underprivileged in disease prevention, literacy, women's empowerment and environment.
It is notable that it is the oldest continuously running Rotary Club in Mainland Asia.
