IPL: Gill, Buttler lead the charge as Titans eclipse Sunrisers

Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler spearheaded a strong all-round performance as Gujarat Titans defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 38 runs in an Indian Premier League clash at the Narendra Modi Stadium here on Friday.

The win over SRH catapulted the Titans into the top three of the IPL table with 14 points from 10 matches. The visitors, who were already out of the race for the playoffs, continue to languish at second from bottom - just above Chennai Super Kings - with six points.

With the hosts setting a formidable target of 225 runs, the SRH batters were waging an uphill battle right from the start.

Opener Abhishek Sharma was the only SRH batter who managed to get on top of the Gujarat bowling with a whirlwind knock of 74 runs from 41 deliveries. The left-hander's lone battle came to an end when a miscued pull off Ishant Sharma saw Mohammed Siraj pull off an excellent catch. The rest of the SRH batters failed to tackle the Titans' bowling attack as the visitors could only manage to reach 186/6.
