IPL: Ahmed, Brewis power CSK past KKR
May 08, 2025
|The Statesman Siliguri
Noor Ahmad produced an excellent display of spin bowling before Dewald Brevis smashed a whirlwind half-century as Chennai Super Kings eked out a two-wicket victory over Kolkata Knight Riders in a hard-fought Indian Premier League encounter at the iconic Eden Gardens on Wednesday evening.
Noor Ahmad used the conditions and the slow pitch to great effect to return figures of 4/31 as KKR were restricted to 179/6 in their 20 overs.
In reply, CSK were troubled by the loss of wickets at regular intervals before managing to cross the line with just two deliveries to go.
Brewis was the top scorer for CSK with 52 runs off just 25 balls which included 30 runs in just one over off Vaibhav Arora which gave a much-needed boost to the visitors who were struggling after losing their entire top order early on.
Despite the win, CSK continued to languish at the bottom of the IPL table with six points from 12 matches, having registered only their third win of the season. KKR, on the other hand, suffered a big blow to their chances of qualifying for the playoffs as they are at the sixth spot with 11 points.

Jeethu Joseph's Miragelooks morelikeaplaythanafilm
Often, a director's first creations remain his or her very best. Satyajit Ray made an umpteen number of films, but when I spoke to many people across continents, they swore by his first work, Pather Panchali (Song of the Little Road). My friend and legendary movie critic, the late Derek Malcolm, always felt that Pather Panchali was brilliant.
