Disclose course fees, stipend for interns: NMC to med colleges

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has directed medical colleges across the country to disclose the fee structure for each course and stipend paid to interns.

The NMC, the sole body monitoring medical education across states and Union Territories (UTs), has also made it mandatory for medical colleges and threatened that it would stop admissions in undergraduate MBBS, postgraduate (PG) MD/MS and other courses if any college is found not implementing its directives. This drastic step, according to many senior medical teachers associated with different committees of the NMC, is significant to streamline a large number of private medical colleges allegedly fleecing money in crores of rupees from candidates during admissions particularly in MBBS course every year.
