Climate change, pests threaten north Bengal tea industry: TIPA

The tea industry in North Bengal is grappling with a severe crisis as climate change, pest infestation, and regulatory hurdles have led to massive crop losses, the Terai Indian Planters' Association (TIPA) said in a press release on Saturday.
The Association chairman, Mahendra Prasad Bansal warned that regular tea estates—especially those selling under their own brand names through Tea Board-regulated auctions—are suffering a sharp decline in production due to widespread pest and disease outbreaks.
