The Allahabad High Court on Friday took up the hearing of a petition challenging the Uttar Pradesh government's order appointing gram pradhan as administrators after the end of the panchayats’ term last month.
The hearing took place before a single bench of Justice Siddharth Nandan. The next hearing will be held on 13 July.
During the hearing, the High Court maintained that the village heads cannot be allowed to continue as administrators. However, the court has not yet imposed any interim stay.
